Fireworks The Past And The Present

Fireworks constantly enrich the mood of the festivals, may it be Christmas (Yes, you can crack them to enjoy to the fullest. Let’s welcome Santa with lots of lights!), Halloween, or Independence Day on July 4. Crackers add color to the occasion. From small children to adults, everyone loves crackers irrespective of their age gap. Even crackers can turn old adults into children and enjoy themselves. Fireworks were first used in the U.S.A. on July 4, 1776, used by the former colonists to celebrate the occasion, as reported by John Adams and Virginia Gazette. Since then, the dazzling display has not left celebrations. The top Chicago firework stores offer the best crackers, perfect for each festival.

History of Fireworks

According to reports, fireworks find their origin in the second century B.C., in ancient times in Liuyang, a province in China. The first firecrackers to be made were bamboo stalks, which, if thrown into the fire, exploded with a loud sound due to the overheating of the empty pockets. This was done as a part of their culture so as to drive away evil spirits and considered them to be natural firecrackers. Later, a Chinese alchemist mixed ingredients like saltpeter, sulfur, and charcoal, which produced a black powder, which was a pure and raw version of the gunpowder. They also filled paper tubes with original gunpowder along with fuses made of tissue paper to produce crackers. The Chinese use these crackers to celebrate occasions such as birthdays, weddings, deaths, holidays, etc. They used fireworks in death to send the soul peacefully and happily to heaven.

The ceremony spread to European countries to celebrate war victories, public celebrations, and other cultural ceremonies from China.

In the U.S.A., fireworks were used first on July 4, 1776, as said earlier, by Captain John Smith in the American colonies in Jamestown, Virginia.
