Top Safety Tips To Keep In Mind When Using Fireworks

With warm weather on the horizon and the Fourth of July celebrations gearing up, it is easy to forget that fireworks can be dangerous. Before you head out to an Indiana and Chicago Firework Superstore, you need to brush up on your fireworks safety tips. Remember, that in some states fireworks are illegal unless professionals set them off, so the safety rules concerning them are not just for show. Read on below for some safety tips that you should keep in mind when using fireworks this Fourth of July.

Leave it to the Professionals

If you feel that the people you are setting off fireworks with are not responsible enough to follow the safety rules, then it is best to just attend professional fireworks shows. If you feel that you are capable of handling fireworks at home, make sure that it is legal in your area first.

Make Sure to be Careful with Sparklers

While not considered to be dangerous by many people, sparklers can reach up to 1200 degrees. Little arms are just not long enough to hold them far enough away from their bodies and eyes. Consider letting the children use glow sticks instead and you do the sparklers for them. Always, always be extra careful with children around fireworks.

Take the Proper Precautions

Make sure that you never wear loose clothing when you are setting off fireworks. Point the fireworks away from your body and your home. Never set off fireworks indoors or in an area that is heavily wooded or has a lot of dry grass and leaves.

Never Let Children Handle Fireworks

Children should never handle fireworks, even if an adult is supervising them. Kids should never play with fireworks. Bottle rockets, firecrackers, and other things that go boom are just too dangerous, even in the hands of some adults. Children are just not mature enough to handle them.

Use Your Common Sense

You should use your common sense when it comes to setting off fireworks at home. Make sure that you read all of the directions on the packages that you purchase from an Indiana and Chicago Firework Superstore, before you ever even open the package. Following the instructions can save you heartbreak on down the line.

Watch Out for Your Pets

Remember, your pets have highly sensitive ears and the repeated loud bang of fireworks can quickly get on their nerves and frighten them. It is best to move any pets and livestock away from your fireworks show. Keeping your dogs and cats inside is the best way to keep them safe on the fourth of July.

These are just a few of safety tips to help you have fun while shooting off fireworks on July 4, or any other holiday for that matter. From using your common sense to keeping fireworks away from children, you can be sure that you will have a wonderful and safe July 4 BBQ when you follow the safety tips above to the letter.
